Hitit University Media and Communication Students Conducted Field Practice at Mother's Day Event
Students from Hitit University's Media and Communication program took to the field as part of their practical training at an opening ceremony held on Mother's Day. The students gained professional experience by working on a news report at the opening of the Gülnuş Banu Sultan Women's Center, built by the Çorum Municipality.
The Women's Center, one of the election promises of Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın, was officially opened with a ceremony on Mother's Day. Located within the Millet Bahçesi (National Garden), the center, the largest of the Çorum Municipality facilities, is named after Gülnuş Banu Sultan, the wife of Melik Ahmet Gazi, the commander who conquered Çorum in 1075. It will serve as an important social space for women.
The opening ceremony was attended by numerous guests, including Çorum Governor Ali Çalgan, Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın, and Hitit University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk.
Hitit University Media and Communication program students covered the event, conducting camera work, video recording, and interviews. As part of their practical training, students gained field experience for the news content they prepared by conducting interviews with public administrators.
In interviews with Çorum Governor Ali Çalgan, Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın, and Hitit University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk, students obtained opinions on the significance of the opening ceremony, initiatives for women, and the importance of Mother's Day.
As part of the program, students also interviewed mothers, recording their feelings and thoughts on the place of Mother's Day in family and social life, the value of motherhood, and the meaning this special day holds for them.
Through this practical training, Hitit University Media and Communication program students had the opportunity to experience the knowledge they gained in theoretical courses in a real news environment; they improved their professional skills in news gathering, interviewing, filming, and fieldwork.
